Overwhelming {Kyran}

Thea stepped into Kyran's home and took off her spectacles. Her milky white eyes swept the area, noting the presence of a small child. She completely ignored Kyran, instead listening to the child. They always knew she could see them. It was disconcerting to her for a long time though she'd gotten used to it.

She diverted her attention back to Kyran, smiling. I can see you. She assured him, trying to soothe what she imagined was some measure of alarm. She tucked her spectacles away. She was sure that this man was wondering exactly what he'd gotten himself into as she was positive that her eyes made her far less attractive than she would have been if she were normal.

My name is Thea, though I'm sure you already know that. I've heard much about you, Kyran. Nothing bad, I promise. She smiled. Thea was trying to make this work. She didn't quite have to be so serious here, she imagined. That would be hard to get used to.

She looked a little rigid though she could move comfortably in her dress. She'd been wearing corsets most of her life and had gotten used to their restrictions. She was a bit warm, though. In the summertime she always felt slightly uncomfortable. At her old home they'd kept it quite cool as it was comfortable for all of them.

Kyran was waiting for his soon to be wife he supposed he should call her. He wasn't entirely sure what he had gotten himself into..but he had agreed to marry this woman and he never went back on his word. As he saw her approach he took notice of what she wore, it hid a lot of her..something Kyran wasn't used to, still she was beautiful in her own way. Her milky white skin and black hair fascinated him as he looked her over quietly and her eyes..now they truly intrigued him.

He wondered perhaps if she was blind until he heard her say she could see him. Regaining some sort of composure, he smiled slightly. "Yes..I know who you are, but it's still a pleasure to finally meet you Thea." His accent still showed through even after all of these years of being away from Egypt. "I hope you'll like it here Thea. I know it must be different from..your home."

Yes very. I'm not quite used to such a... bright environment. My old home was very dark. I fear you wouldn't feel very comfortable there. My niece and brother have a tendency to be quite loud. Thea spoke as though their relationship was normal which it was for her. Of course humans would think it taboo. They weren't humans though.

Thea smiled and knelt down to acknowledge the child who'd been begging for her attention. Atcina? What a lovely name. You must be so lonely, poor child. Now that won't do will it? Well. I'm here now and there's no need to cry. She reached up and used her thumb to brush away the child's tears. Although it would look to anyone else that she was talking to nothing.

Yes, I know. Your brother was very brave and he loves you so very much. And you love him too, don't you? Thea smiled, cupping the child's face.

You traveled far. All the way here. That was very brave of you. You're safe now, though. You needn't worry. Thea was amazing with children though she could be a hard ass at times. She did have a soft spot for them, yearning for children of her own.

I promise, dear. Your brother will be safe as well. She laughed some as though Atcina had said something she found amusing. Yes, I will protect him. You can rest now, dear.

After a moment Thea glanced up at him. You must be very confused... She stood up, brushing her dress off.

"It's not much different from my..old home then." He chuckled a bit, it wasn't exactly abnormal to him about incestuous relations. He had lived in a time period where it was sometimes accepted after all. Kyran tilted his head as he watched her kneel down on the ground, talking to someone. Atcina..that was his sister's name, he hadn't heard that name in thousands of years..

How in the hell did Thea know of her? Kyran hadn't told anyone about his past at all, least of all this woman. "You can see her?.." He spoke quietly, it was hard for him to keep any sort of composure. His little sister had to hate him..she must, for failing to save her. He let out a low breath and ran a hand over his face a bit. "I haven't spoken of my sister since the day she died.."

Your worries are unjustified. You did what you could and she knows that. She wants you to be happy. She seems to think I'm capable of doing that though I'll let you be the judge. Thea wasn't sure of this still. Kyran seemed like a good man from what she could tell. There was still the matter of them actually getting along. She was a strong woman and not used to affection shown by grown men, having been around mostly children.

"She was always a good judge of character. But ah..forgive me, I should show you around your new home." Kyran wasn't used to showing much emotion, but when it came to his sister..he couldn't help it. Still, he would dwell on his sister later..right now he had company. "Come with me and I'll give you the grand tour." He gave a small smile to her, he could see himself liking Thea..she seemed like a good woman. Only time would tell if he'd grow to love her as well.

Thea had been sleeping in her room. It had taken her a long time to be able to sleep. This new home was comfortable but it wasn't what she was used to.

The sound of a low growl echoed throughout the room and her eyes flashed open, fear flooding through her. Something evil was in the room with her. She stayed perfectly still for several moments out of sheer terror. She couldn't make herself move for several minutes. She could hear the beast behind her getting closer to her.

Suddenly she was sprinting down the hallway. Where was Kyran's room? She'd be safe there... safe with anyone else. Atcina was hiding. She could sense that much. As long as she stayed hidden where she was she would be safe. She quickly wrenched a door open and slammed it behind her. The beast collided with the door, an audible band sounding throughout the room. It knocked Thea over.

She scrambled up and onto the bed, clinging onto Kyran. He was safety. As long as she was with him she was safe. The door slowly opened with a creak and the beast crawled in, coming closer to Thea. It's breath blew her hair slightly and the stench was nearly unbearable. She couldn't help but cry a little and hid in him, not wanting to even look at the thing.

It's here... it's here. Keep me safe. Keep me safe don't let go of me! She cried in him, her arms tightly wrapped around him in a death grip.

Kyran had been asleep in his bed quite peacefully, with the covers half hanging off of his half naked body. He would have slept like that if he hadn't felt someone crawl in the bed with him, his eyes opened as he gripped the dagger he kept under his pillow as he scanned the room for danger. But all he saw was Thea, a very frightened Thea.

He instinctively wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to his body as he looked around the room. He could sense something was wrong but he couldn't see it. "Thea..what is it? I won't let go..I promise but you need to tell me what it is you see." He tried to soothe her, running his hand through her hair gently.

Big.... dog... Sharp teeth. Evil. She shut her eyes tightly once again. She felt a lot safer with him.

Jackal... it's a jackal. It took a swipe at her, cutting her cheek. There wasn't much more damage it could do though. Not right then at least. It growled at her and stalked off.

Thea took a deep breath, relaxing. She wiped the blood from her face, now noticing how revealing her nightgown was. She preferred to sleep in less clothing than she normal wore. It was a bit embarrassing to her now that she noticed it. She quickly pulled the covers up to shield herself.

He saw the cut to her cheek and quickly pulled her behind him, he couldn't see the Jackal but it would have to go through him to get to Thea. Kyran could sense that it had left after awhile so he lowered his dagger, setting on the stand beside his bed before he looked over at her. "Are you alright?" He didn't notice her nightgown if he was being honest, he was more concerned about her well being than the fact she was wearing less clothing.

Thea nodded, wiping the blood from her face. It's gone... It would seem something isn't very fond of me here. She smiled a little bit.

Thea's ivory eyes swept over Kyran's features. She'd not had much of a chance to take him in as she'd been preoccupied with her surroundings. She reached up and ran her fingers through his hair.

Long hair... She smiled. The Haverghasts weren't quite familiar with the concept of personal space. Even so, they were supposed to be married soon.

I was told you were very handsome though I'd never imagined I'd be this lucky. You're kind... I see it in your soul... at least to those you care about. What you did for your sister speaks volumes about your true character... what do I look like? I've never quite... seen myself. What you see now is well... years of practice. She smiled a little, her hand falling from his face. She didn't want to leave as she was still a bit scared though she was talking to him to calm herself. It was working. She felt a lot more comfortable there.

Kyran let her touch him, enjoying the contact and not wanting to tell her to stop either way. He had a feeling she's never been close with anyone before, not anyone outside family at least. He lightly ran his fingers across her cheek, looking over her cut for a moment he kind of smiled as he listened to her speak.

"Thank you..I only wish I could have saved her. She deserved to grow old and have many children and grandchildren." Kyran still beat himself up over his sister's execution, that was the day he never forgave his family and clan. Letting out a small breath, he smiled some as he looked her over. Thea was very beautiful to him, foreign to what he was used to..but that wasn't a bad thing. "You are very beautiful Thea.. You have long black hair that reminds me of ebony, and pale white skin that is soft to the touch. Your eyes..fascinate me, they are different but beautiful." Kyran ran his fingers through her hair just as she had done with him, he didn't want her to leave just yet.

Thea leaned into him some sure that if she could blush she would have. Would you mind too terribly if I stayed? Just for today? I'd rather not be burned or scratched if I can help it. She smiled some, her hand resting on his chest.

The fact of the matter was that she was still afraid to leave. This was the safest place to be at the time. If she left Thea feared she might not make it to her room. She didn't know where that thing went or if it was still in the house. Things like that had happened to her before though not as bad as this.

Kyran gave a small smile as he ran his fingers through her hair gently. "You're welcome to stay here tonight or anytime Thea.. Whenever you feel scared..or even if you get lonely." He could get used to having her around more..she was different. Perhaps too proper for him at first but..she was growing on him already. He felt..comfortable around her.

You shouldn't have said that. I might never leave. She smiled, laughing some. Thea let out a yelp as she felt a force shove her toward Kyran. Atci- She protested but couldn't make herself form the rest of the young girl's name when she realized how close she was to Kyran.

Her lips were less than an inch away from his she'd gathered. Normally she would have scrambled back and brushed herself off. That was the proper thing to do.. Instead, she closed the tiny gap and kissed him softly. Her eyes fluttered shut and she leaned into him. This only lasted for a moment before she quickly jolted back.

I'm... I'm sorry I shouldn't have done that...
